About

Hi there! I'm Wong Heng Wai Sylvia a student from Singapore and my E-Portfolio is dedicated to portraying my lifestyle through my achievements in school, co-curricular activities (CCAs), work and many other random bits and pieces of adventures I have experienced.
Currently, at 21 years old, I have completed my Primary School Leaving Examinations, GCE O-level Examinations and a Diploma in Business Management specialised in Customer Relationship & Service Management (CRSM) and International Business (IB) at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Singapore. I have also recently completed my studies in pursuing a Bachelor of Business Degree for Marketing at Royal Melbourne Insitute of Technology (RMIT).
I enjoy volunteering from time to time and love to watch movies, animal documentary and cartoons. In addition, I also love travelling and being able to discover new places and cultures.
I always believe that things happen for a reason and have always lived my life to the fullest, chasing after what I am most passionate about and constantly taking a leap of faith when seizing new opportunities and trying out new adventures. I hope that in the near future, I will be able to pursue an occupation that I am very passionate about while still being able to create and find my definition of happiness in my daily life.
To end off, here's a quote I live by "It always seems impossible until it's done" - Nelson Mandela

Crafts and Embroideries
IF SOMETHING MAKES YOU HAPPY, IT MATTERS
I have always enjoyed giving gifts and presents as a form of gratitude to show people around me that I love and appreciate them without any intention of receiving anything in return. Personally rather than lavish gifts, I prefer to receive presents that are handmade, personalized, and practical such as a handwritten card or something that I can make full use of in my daily life.

Although I am not the best at arts and crafts and do not have any artsy skills, I always enjoy art lessons back in secondary school because something about doing crafts and DIYs by hand always seems enjoyable and calming to me. Since then, in recent years thanks to an initiative brought about by one of my internship companies, we were tasked to have a triweekly zoom meeting due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions where we will each pick up a new skill or hobby and do it for an hour. After pondering on what to do for a while, I stumbled across punch needle embroidery.

Initially, I struggled for a bit but after I got the hang of it I went on and did many other embroidery pieces to gift to my supervisors and siblings. The whole experience was very therapeutic for me and it sparked my interest in doing crafts again and to challenge myself even more to tackle other crafts like crocheting, knitting, and other crafts.

Content Creation for Social Media
WHEN PASSION MEETS WORK, WORK BECOMES A HOBBY
Having to take up different modules and projects during my study at Nanyang Polytechnic, I gain more exposure to social media and the different functions and benefits it can provide to businesses. It has allowed me to realize that I have a keen interest in planning and creating content for social media.

The latest content pieces that I have created were for one of my modules in my last semester called Entrepreneurship. We are tasked to come up with a business idea and make use of the different promotion channels to increase our brand awareness. I was in charge of creating a social media content calendar and content for both our ig stories and feed to market our stain remover solution on Facebook and Instagram.

While interning at Megaly Global, my team and I was also tasked by the owner to help create content pieces for her health products to reach out to more individuals and increase brand presence online.

Travelling
TWENTY YEARS FROM NOW YOU WILL BE MORE DISAPPOINTED
BY THE THINGS THAT YOU DIDN'T DO THAN BY THE ONES YOU DID DO
Travelling is such a wonderful experience as it can capture us with a sense of wanderlust and make us long to visit more destinations. How many times are there in your life where you really wanted to do something but you end up giving yourself excuses such as maybe next year or when you have the money and time. I think it’s a mistake to put off traveling in exchange for the belief that you can do it when you are older. All of us only live once and none of us can foresee what might happen in the next moment.

Travelling makes people happier as our mind is challenged, stretched, and we experience much more than we usually would. Even though during your trip you may face ups and downs which are sure to boost your anxiety a little, traveling has been scientifically proven to lower stress levels.

I think that traveling is great for all ages as it not only allows you to understand the world better but also to understand yourself better. So take action from now and travel more while you are still able to, rather than waiting until you’re saying “I wish I had”. Live so you can say “I’m glad I did”.
Watching Movies
GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME
Watching movies became a hobby of my ever since I started watching different genre of movies during my school holiday after O levels.

Even if it is just one to two hours of a movie, I love how I can always wind down on my bed with my laptop and escape reality for that period and forget everything that is ongoing in my life. The fact that most movies always end with a key lesson to be learned in the end, has definitely inspired and nurtured me to become a better individual and be more appreciative of what I have.

My favorite genres of movies are romantic comedy and fantasy especially any royal Christmas movies. It's always a good treat to me to end a long day or week by sitting down to watch a wholesome and heartwarming movie.
